Gregory Towns ran from police and was so tired after they caught up to him that he could no longer walk as police officers Marcus Eberhart and Howard Weems demanded. So what did these officers do? They used their Tasers to shock Towns into getting up and walking with them. The two officers fired their Tasers 13 times at the handcuffed man until he died, with Eberhart firing 10 of the 13 shots.

On Tuesday, Towns’ attorney Chris Stewart blasted police for violating their own rules and regulations on Taser usage, telling the press that officers basically used their weapons as cattle prods.

“This is a direct violation of their own rules,” Stewart said. “You cannot use a Taser to escort or prod a subject. They used their Tasers as a cattle prod on Mr. Towns.”

Furthermore, Towns did nothing to deserve being treated the way he was by police. According to Stewart, “He wasn’t cursing. He wasn’t being abusive. He was saying, ‘I’m tired.’”

Of course, police deny that the Tasers had anything to do with Towns’ death. But the autopsy report contradicts their denial. The death has been ruled a homicide caused by the Taser shocks and the physical weakness Towns incurred by running.

They should be fired AND tried for manslaughter.

    Updated story:

    http://www.inquisitr.com/1438641/dea...a-cattle-prod/

Official documentation of the incident is condemning enough. The police department has a rule about not using drive force (also known as drive stun) tasering to escort or prod subjects. It’s also against the department’s rules to use a Taser against a subject who is offering only passive resistance –the very definition of a non-aggressive man refusing to walk in handcuffs because of physical exhaustion. As a result, the man’s family has filed a lawsuit as reported by local television station WSB-TV 2. The county coroner’s autopsy report has ruled that Towns’ death was a homicide, citing ill health and electric shock as the cause.
It has been agreed by everyone involved that Gregory Towns’ Taser-induced death was not a matter of racial bias, as both officers and the subject himself were all African-American.Attorney Chris Stewart noted:
“Mr. Towns’ killing is not about race. It’s about police brutality…going to the extreme."
Why do I have this feeling the OP didn't know that last part when he started this thread?

Perhaps the troll part was a little hostile, but nothing I would of expected a warning over. The logic however is on the money
    1) We know the police in many places are out of control
    2) We know that blacks are more likely to commit crime ( largely a poverty thing)
    3) We also know therefore blacks have a higher proportion of conflicts with police
    4) And I think most of us also accept that police, in general, are more hostile towards blacks
However, by looking at the problem overall, color blind, I think we have the best chance to improve things
Why won't the Donkephant give up it's failed "war on Drugs".? Cigar you want to know how the man is keeping blacks down? Prohibition.
No series of actions could improve so many lives so quickly and save so much tax payer money as waving the white flag on the "War on Drugs"

    1) I know for a fact the "some" police are out of control
    2) I know for a fact that I've never committed a crime, had nothing to with my bank account
    3) I know if the above is true ... why the conflict
    4) I never allow police to become hostile to me, first I'm not doing anything wrong, second I know people over their head
