    God or Country?

@Rebel Son made a comment in another thread about dead veterans and the flag. I may be wrong but it seemed like he assumed that we veterans have some sort of flag love or some allegience to the flag over our faith and religion. I'm wondering if this is a cultural thing because I come from black church culture and we put nothing above Jesus.

If you had to choose between religion or your country which one would it be and why?

This will lead me to my point about why we can't win in the ME, but let's just see where people go on this one.

I'm quite conflicted. I recognize the damage Christian universalism has wrought particularly in it's profane form.

I will vote tomorrow after some reflection.
Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

I don't know how to respond.

And I am the first person to question people who answer "don't know" on polls....

Loaded question, I don't believe in god and our country is a friggin sham. You are right however about never winning in the ME. How are we going to stop people who have been at war for thousands of years.........It'l never happen.

I chose country simply because I believe the mind of god to be unknowable, whereas a country can have objective parameters that serve to benefit people, both individually and generally.
Power always thinks it has a great soul, and vast views, beyond the comprehension of the weak. And that it is doing God service when it is violating all His laws.

Even if you don't believe in God, you have your own ethical code. Which is more important to you, your ethics or your Country. If it is your own ethical code, which to me is the core of theism, then if you vote for God, it wouldn't be a lie.

Tough one. I'm an anarchist and an atheist. Reading Atheists: The Origin of the Species on the history of atheism and coming to realize it has historically been more a rejection of the state backed by faith, a rejection, for example, as classical liberalism was, of the divine right of kings. In a religious sense, I don't reject faith, just lack it. If anything, as a libertarian, I would say I put the idea of liberty above both God and country.
Tradition is not the worship of ashes, but the preservation of fire. ― Gustav Mahler

Should you suddenly find your country, or it's objectives to be depraved, what then?
