Vikings RB Adrian Peterson Charged in Son's Injury, Won't Play Sunday

    http://www.nbcnews.com/news/sports/v...sunday-n202536

The Minnesota Vikings on Friday deactivated all-pro rusher Adrian Peterson after the 29-year-old was indicted in a child abuse case.

The star running back will not play Sunday against the New England Patriots.

The move by the the Vikings — made via a terse, one-line statement — came after the sheriff in Montgomery County, Texas, announced that a grand jury had indicted Peterson on a charge of "injury to a child," on Friday afternoon.

A warrant was issued for Peterson's arrest but it was unclear where he was Friday evening.

Montgomery County officials refused to discuss further details of the case, but Peterson's attorney, Rusty Hardin, said that the charge involved Peterson's using a "switch" to spank his son.

"Adrian is a loving father who used his judgment as a parent to discipline his son," said Hardin's statement.

"He used the same kind of discipline with his child that he experienced as a child growing up in east Texas.

Adrian has never hidden from what happened.
He has cooperated fully with authorities and voluntarily testified before the grand jury for several hours."

I think that they need to switch to Flag Football right now.

If they think that every player is going be perfect in everyway, then they can just cash it is now~

They have already made the game a lot less fun to watch

Perhaps we should start reviewing all labor unions. Start looking at the huge services and auto unions, teachers unions as well. Begin to look at individual's run-ins with the law and expanding it to the entire organization.

I like how the lawyer/media uses "switch" instead of "stick". Whatever....he caused an injury to the child that had to be treated medically he is fooked and rightly so. He crossed the line he loses his career. This is worse than Rice.

BTW, 2 first round FFL draft picks just got squashed in as many days! OH There are SO many lemon suckers out there right now.

Another viewpoint may be that the work provided by the NFL attracts the violent type?

Or it could be that they are people to and make mistakes. some of them are serial abusers, but some just make a mistake!

I think that we should carry this to all walks of life, if you are convicted of child abuse or spouse abuse you should lose your job and not ever be able to work again.

    This is fair to me.

Lets face it if they were not famous, this would not even make the news, and if they were Soccer players the left would be coming to their aid!

Yes they should be punished, by the law and they should be consequences in there jobs, but when you end their career? You are punishing his son and family much more than you are punishing him!

I am sure that all the people that want the fired and to never be able to play again will be right there when the child can't go to collage and the family needs help. Remember many if not most of these athletes are not great with money especially early in their career

I don't think it does rebuke your question.

Certainly this line of work attracts more aggressive people, they have to be.

But there are plenty of people in everyday life that are abusers as well. I just hate the Faux rage by many that will do nothing to help the kids in their neighborhood that are victims of this. And feel that calling for the heads of celebrities and sports figures is all that they need to do
