The trouble here is a simple one you seem to miss completely. The author of the OP uses the Bible to justify a modern partisan point of view, he uses the Bible as a moral stick for his own purposes by picking and choosing verses. Critique whether his viewpoint makes sense, my point is it is nonsense. There is no need to critique nonsense.

Indeed, the author does show how the Bible promotes capitalism and not communism. No, he tempers that beginning "On the other hand, the Bible does not endorse a completely laissez-faire perspective."

Your "critique" does neither, offers no argument, no counter citations, nothing. Your "critique" does no more than say you personally don't like it.

Something is not nonsense merely because you declare it to be so. More importantly, you just condemned yourself since you are guilty of the same.
Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

I have been re reading the Bible cover to cover and I can't see in anything I have read the promotion of any economic or political philosophy.
My beliefs are a distillation of what I was taught as a child and what I observe as an adult.

Respect for private property does seem to be there.

So you disagree with the specific points raised in the OP?

No, I disagree with the pretense that the Bible is a useful reference for backing up some external idiom by cherry picking certain parts and declaring that the "Bible says......" This tactic is used all most exclusively in deceptive persuasion.

Perhaps it says more about Christianity than it does about economics. I'd agree it says little about economics.
