    Major defeat for Iraqi military

    Major defeat for Iraqi military

To be fair to these clowns, the Iraqi government decimated their units by purging Sunnis from the military. Some units are at 50% strength.

US doctrine has units combat ineffective between 50-60%. Airborne units are much higher, since they are expected to take heavy casualties in combat jumps.

The army base in Iraq’s western Anbar province had been under siege by Islamic State militants for a week, so when a convoy of armored Humvees rolled up at the gate, the Iraqi soldiers at Camp Saqlawiyah believed saviors had arrived.

But this was no rescue attempt. The vehicles were driven by militants on suicide missions, and within seconds on Sunday the base had become a bloody scene of multiple bombings.

On Monday, a day after the attack, five survivors — including three officers — said that between 300 and 500 soldiers were missing and believed to be dead, kidnapped or in hiding. Army officials said the numbers were far lower, leading to accusations that they were concealing the true toll.
    ***

“I gathered my soldiers and said: ‘We are going to die anyway. Let’s try to get out,’ ” Hussein said, adding that he and about 400 other soldiers escaped under heavy fire in a convoy. Others were left behind. [$#@!]

Those who got away divided into three groups, eventually leaving their vehicles after some were hit by roadside bombs. They continued on foot, traversing nearly two miles of territory held by the Islamic State until they reached Camp Tariq, about four miles away.

“I was in the first group; there were about 150 soldiers in each,” Hussein said. “Only about half of each group made it.”

Has anyone thought about what happens when ISIS controls all of Iraq?

They're not going to stop at the borders. They're going to keep on rolling.

They've got the initiative on their side, and lots of cash looted from banks, and now they have oil money rolling in.

Muslim kids from all over the world are going there to swell their ranks.

There doesn't seem to be a plan to really do anything about this problem.

That's because there is nothing to do about it except spend ten years, 150k troops, and probably a few trillion dollars fighting a guerilla force. The second option is to close down all foreign military bases and plant our troops on both borders, plant every Navy ship off our shores, cut off ISIL's funding, and send special forces after them.

The second option is our best option. First option is our worst option. Which is why we'll end up with the first.

The West is facing an existential threat. Terrorism is only the tip of the spear. The real threat is Muslim immigrants flowing into Europe and changing the demographic landscape. As Muslims grow in numbers in Europe, they will demand more Sharia law, more special privileges to pray in the streets and clog traffic, more special treatment in the schools, and they will not assimilate into European culture but will eliminate and replace it.

Fighting bush wars in the Middle East and Afghanistan does not even come close to solving the real problem, which is the cultural attack of a foreign culture upon ours. This war cannot be won on the battlefield, nor can it be won by special forces, or anti-terrorism agents.

    Then what is your solution?

Iran could crush ISIL if they committed their military. Anyway, ISIL is a threat to its neighbors. Not us.

ISIS wants you to think like this.

Don't know, don't care. He's retired, therefore irrelevant.
