An officer administers a naturalization test to determine whether an applicant meets the English and civics requirements.

You Are Exempt From The English Language Requirement, But Are Still Required To Take The Civics Test If You Are:
- Age 50 or older at the time of filing for naturalization and have lived as a permanent resident (green card holder) in the United States for 20 years (commonly referred to as the “50/20” exception).
OR- Age 55 or older at the time of filing for naturalization and have lived as a permanent resident in the United States for 15 years (commonly referred to as the “55/15” exception).
- If you take the test in your native language, you must bring an interpreter with you to your interview.

The history test is about assimilation. I don't want immigrants getting US citizenship unless they want to be US citizens. We don't need a Londonistan.

I don't understand the hoopla about immigrants learning English. Half of our native-born white citizens can't even speak English these days.

Here is how I feel about immigration. I love burritos, I love pan fried dumplings, and Indian food gives me the $#@!s so they can go home.
