Imagine someone telling you that you needed a license to get a job?
Not that far out, Code, I had to shell out $20 to our niggardly and oppressive Liberal government to obtain a "food handler's permit" so I could wash dishes at my first job when I was 17. Please note I wasn't even handling food.

Any laws created or altered to allow for same-sex marriages should include a clause that religious institutions and their leaders are under no obligation to perform a same-sex marriage. When our government decided to allow same-sex marriage it was vital to preserve freedom of religion by making that absolutely clear. It's really that simple.

Again , simply separate "legal marriage" from religious marriage ceremony. Problem solved

We have it set-up so that all marriages are civil marriages (Civil Marriage Act) but that you can either have a religious ceremony or a civil one. Plenty of opposite-sex couples have civil ceremonies and plenty of same-sex couples have religious ceremonies through some of the religious institutions that will perform them. It works well.

I'm not sure what you mean by legal/religious. Everyone needs a license. They have a choice of a wedding by a judge or justice of the peace, etc (non-religious) or a priest/preacher (religious) ceremony. Don't we already have the separate choices?
