Why? I'm sure that big cities (where the most people live) are the biggest recipients. But there are just as many big cities in blue states.

Calculate the net. You know that it's the blue municipalities that are the centers of welfare. NYC is the biggest welfare recipient in the world, whether it's poor people or Wall Street.
Power always thinks it has a great soul, and vast views, beyond the comprehension of the weak. And that it is doing God service when it is violating all His laws.

the last figure I saw for Alabama was $1.96 received in government funds for every $1.00 sent...and we are not the biggest drain. While allowing secession would reduce the drain, there is a huge federal investment in the southern states...military bases, etc. Doesn't sound like a good trade to me.

Allow me to enhance correctly ... Alabama, (and all the other southern states) ... and as the heart of Dixie ... is still waging the Civil War, and behaves as if it should be theeee Big (FED) Govt ... so in this regard Alabama isn't a suckling off a govt that it thinks is righteously theirs.

I've yet to find a true Libertarian with the exception of perhaps Gary Johnson. The rest pretend to be, until of course a personhood (for) or legalize pot (against) amendment comes along.

Then they're right there with the rest of the social cons.
