Secret torture programs are not an example of legitimate classification. Americans have a right to know if the US government is operating a worldwide torture regime. And the Senate committee that investigated this matter was not revealing anything that was subject to classification, so it's a moot point.

That's not how it works. You don't just turn the thumbscrews until the bad guy screams out the location of the bomb. This isn't "24" and that never works.
Interrogation is time consuming, you need background, time, and resources to verify the information you've recieved, a second connected subject is helpful for that too. You need a team, including medical personnel and equipment, an isolated location, security, and of course someone to administer the "duress". These cia interrogations aren't happening in the basement of their office, they are decent sized operations.
As far as torture not working thats bull$#@!. Properly done you can get anything the subject knows.
