I can watch school and community soccer, mostly because I have an interest in it having kids.

Can't watch it on TV for more than 5 minutes. Boooooooooooring.

My theory as to why soccer is so popular in other countries is because life is so $#@!ing boring there. If that's all you have (aside from watching the goats $#@!ing in the pasture), then I can see why it might be popular.

Western culture has football. FOOTBALL. Hockey, MMA, titty movies, fantastic video games. There is way too much on the entertainment menu here to get interested in a slow, low scoring game.

Now if a soccer riot was pretty much commonplace with each game, I might tune in more often.

Teams like the Red Sox are the PRIME reason why MLB sucks. If you can buy a team every year and compete for the title while half the league can only afford a payroll less than half of the payroll for teams like the Sox, then it isn't a sport. It's a $#@!ing video game on cheat mode.

Which is why sox and yankees fans are all frauds.

They only care about winning titles and beating each other in that rivalry. They have no concept of sporting competition. These are the "children" who play video games on cheat mode.

That's all mental masturbation. Great for the witless, but playing Madden NFL on cheat mode and wiping out the rest of the league gets boring quick for me.

I want to see competition. Victory comes cheap when it's bought, but it's pretty $#@!ing sweet when it's earned.

the thing is those teams don't think it's 'cheating', so the victory for them is just as sweet. if i were in their shoes, i'd feel the same way...after all, part of what makes those teams rich is that they win. well, not the cubs ;D then they reinvest that money into the team. those teams actually allow crap teams like my padres to function because of revenue sharing.
