Enjoyed debating with you and you seem almost as smart as us Americans ......LOL
Evan.. Let me clue you in here. You sound like a little radical and so does Awryly...but the thing is, Awryly is incapable of being nice to even people who are as hateful as he is. Others have tried it and have gotten their asses handed to them for their trouble. You may be radical, but that cuts no butter with Awryly. He is an equal opportunity hater.

Some people are worth "being nice" to. Others are not.

I am not radical or hateful but that's ok. I will listen to your advice sicne I am new here but I will guess this forum as all other forums has it's culture and it's characters. I have not figured Awrly out but he appears to one who enjoys provoking others and that can be entertaining. Political forums are obviously places where people float their opinions and some do that in an intellectual manner others do it in "hateful" and or over the top mode.

Thanks for you advice I do appreciate it.

"Hate" here is, of course, shorthand for disagreeing with the disagreeable here.

It is an emotion born of a conviction that everyone should believe the earth is flat and that anyone who disagrees with that idea should be compelled to fall off it.

    This is unfair.

New Zealand excludes religion from politics. No politician here with half a brain would claim divine inspiration. Religion is just a non-issue.

But in the US, politicians obssess about it. Even poor Obama, who is a closet atheist, has to pretend he attends some church or other - where he no doubt offers prayers that Americans will one day see sense.

Why does such irrationality infest American politics? Or is it just a convenient conceit?
I agree with you to an extent. The rhetoric in the United States is very Christian, and at times very overbearing... and I'm probably considered very religious, so you'd think I'd be all gung-ho about it. I don't think religion should be mixed with politics, though.

I know how you feel but it just can't be avoided. People get their moral and ethical beliefs from religions and those beliefs inform our politics.
