I think they should have addressed the real issues we have/had in healthcare. Frivolous lawsuits that drive up malpractice insurance rates for the doctors directly affect the costs of healthcare, yet they did nothing to help there. Allowing the insurance companies to sell across state lines would have allowed greater competition and driven prices down. I know these are Republican talking points, but that does not make them any less true.

Instead, the Democrats came up with this wild system that punishes doctors and those who were very happy with the plans they had, in order to take care of people who really didn't even want insurance. I know some have benefitted from the overhaul, but far more have not. Personally, I feel that the way it was worked pretty well. It needed reforming, no doubt, but not a complete replacement,. Especially a replacement has been so controversial, punitive and was sold to the American people through lies and bribes, yet does nothing to address the real issues that needed to be dealt with.

I do not think we should have continued to do nothing, and I like a few parts of the ACA, but as a whole, it needs to go and be replaced with common sense reforms.

Lawsuits are less a problem than made out to be. First, a lot are not frivolous. Hospital errors are the 3rd leading cause of death in the United States. Second, federal courts, and likely most state courts, already have rules to punish people who bring frivolous law suits. They just don't enforce them.

4 justices have to vote yes to hear a case. That is likely the conservative 4. We know the libs are going to ignore simple statutory interpretation and say whatever helps Obama. That leaves Roberts. What will he do?

The frivolous ones are driving up costs though. So you address them by using laws that are already on the books. My point is that we had a good, but flawed system in place. Instead of addressing the flaws, they have thrown the system out and replaced it with one that is full of even more flaws. Instead of taking genuine steps to make healthcare more affordable for all, they commandeered the thing and made it more profitable for certain people, expanded governmental control into our personal lives and hurt the middle class. Now, because the Dems wanted to do something, anything, even if it's wrong... we have a massively intrusive law that over half the nation wants to get rid of. Maybe had they been genuine in their efforts and been willing to compromise just a little, they could have attracted some bipartisan support. Instead, they have a highly partisan law that will not stand the test of time.

I agree with you in that the issue of those who could not afford coverage should have been dealt with through medicare or something similar, and that taxpayer provided coverage should be bare-bones.

I can't wait for the SCOTUS to end this Obamacare and get all of these people off of health care. Health is for commie granola munchers.

the aca plans are not the freebies one might image..they have high deductibles...

so you want to go back to when profit insurance companies could decide who got treatment?

the insurance companies are a huge part of the problem....now and in the past.....we not longer deal with 'real costs' in the medical system...we deal with inflated costs due to the crazy system....and why should we remain the only civilized country that does not provide health care?

why not head off health problems instead of waiting till people are in dire straights to deal with it?
    A lie ain’t a side of the story. It’s just a lie.
