Yes, I know I can use GIMP instead of Photoshop CS 6, but why go through the hassles of learning a new OS so I can run a program that's kinda like CS 6?
Probably won't run most Windows Apps, which is why, my job tied to developing Windows Apps, I can't cut the cord. But would otherwise because everything I need to do there's apps available on other OSs. I don't have a huge investment in software, as most of that comes with the job. If you've invested, then you might well be stuck. It's still a choice. No monopoly.

And you're right, most OSs come with a heavy geek price and steep learning curve.

Not Chrome OS, which is what my next computer will run.

Exclamation Question On Registry Cleaners and Defragging

There has been talk that using Registry Cleaners as well as apps that defrag the registry is dangerous as it could really upset and destroy a computer if not used right. That's something no one wants to happen.

However, we all know that when programs are added or downloaded and then removed there is lots of stuff that is left behind that can clog up the computer system and make it run slower that could be removed if done carefully. Therefore, I would like opinions on whether you have used a Registry Cleaner and/or Registry Defrag software and what were your results? Did you have it work successfully as it should or did it cause your registry problems that you could not correct?

There is some registry cleaning software that will automatically back-up your registry so that if things don't work as expected you can simply push a button and Restore the registry as it previously was. But others do not have this Very Important feature.

What has been your experience with this type of software? And what software would you recommend as best for cleaning and defragging the registry? Thanks.
Let's see how much care and compassion Trump and Republicans show for their fellow Americans to truly help them out in their time of need.

Let's start the count to see if Trump comes through on the many things he promised to do for Americans. If he doesn't, along with a Republican Congress, then what's his and their excuse?

I use CCleaner on occasion. Seems that many applications use the registry for storing settings. Trash dose accumulate.

Nothing up to date. I remember, gosh, a decade or more ago, using some sort of registry cleaner. I remember I had it set to let me check and approve each deletion. It was time consuming to say the least.

What I learned was to simply rebuild the OS every two, three years.

I guess the next step would be just replace the computer as they're fairly cheap. For around the house, under $500. Company I work for just bought me the latest, greatest, fastest computer in the company, just over $1000. At checkout, when asked if I want a warranty I just say cheaper to throw it away and buy new.

Especially when as polecat points out it's obsolete before you get the damn thing home.

I'm fixing to demonstrate my complete ignorance...again. I notice that some people can use @ and someone's name...how do they enter it to make it come up as a mention?
