Zoiks! I didn't know that. You would think an outfit like Xerox could have got that to market before a couple of hippies yanked it out from under their feet.

The major computer companies did not believe that PC's would catch on. They could not imagine a future where every home has a computer (or 2 or 3). They were concentrating on high priced, large units for business.

Let's see how much care and compassion Trump and Republicans show for their fellow Americans to truly help them out in their time of need.

Let's start the count to see if Trump comes through on the many things he promised to do for Americans. If he doesn't, along with a Republican Congress, then what's his and their excuse?

Yes, 8 is still hard to get used to. I'd read they'd skip 9 to 10 but if they come out with a free 9 that's be great.

Check! I'd like to get it as I have 8.1 now. However, for all the hype about Win 8, I haven't noticed anything particularly bad about it. It works pretty good all things considered. Yet Win 9 might be an improvement especially if it's free and if it has some additional controls and programming that would make Win. 8 even more stable.

I think it was the switch to the Windows cell phone interface that threw people. 8.1 made search visible and easy so when I have admin things to do I just search to find apps, then pin to the interface.

Most of my computers run Windows 7 though.

Microsoft has dropped some serious turd on us over the years. I let others take the leap before I venture in. 7 has been bullet proof for me as XP was and I will probably stay on 7 until it is obsolete.

Yes, I was under the impression myself that 8 was a mobile device OS. I am dirt stupid anymore on this stuff.
