    Microsoft to finalize Windows 10 this week

    Microsoft is planning to finalize Windows 10 this week, ahead of its official launch later this month. Sources familiar with Microsoft’s plans tell The Verge that the company is currently working on final copies of Windows 10, with a release to manufacturing (RTM) build expected later this week. RTM candidate builds have already been spotted online. Once the RTM build is ready, Microsoft will send the final copy of Windows 10 to its PC partners ahead of a release to the public on July 29th....

    Microsoft to Launch the Free Version of Office for Windows 10 on July 29

    Microsoft to Launch the Free Version of Office for Windows 10 on July 29

    http://news.softpedia.com/news/micro...9-486599.shtml
    "Microsoft has just announced that its Office universal apps would be ready this month and would debut together with Windows 10 on July 29, thus providing users installing its new operating system with a quick way to work and manage their documents."
    "Anyone will be allowed to download Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or OneNote without paying a single cent, as they will all be available in the Windows Store (the new store to be included in Windows 10 and offered as a universal app across all devices too)."
    =========================================
    Copies of MS Office are expensive. Now they are being offered for free with Windows 10. So......
    Thanks to Softpedia for this report.
    Let's see how much care and compassion Trump and Republicans show for their fellow Americans to truly help them out in their time of need.

    Let's start the count to see if Trump comes through on the many things he promised to do for Americans. If he doesn't, along with a Republican Congress, then what's his and their excuse?

    M$ is behind the ball on Office. Google Docs has been out there a long time now.

    Exclamation Don't Upgrade to Windows 10 on July 29

    Don't Upgrade to Windows 10 on July 29
    By John C. Dvorak

    http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2487342,00.asp
    "I suspect that they have death panels in Redmond, where a committee decides to pull the plug on certain products by yanking the drivers from the Windows native support bundle. If you were using one of those products you are out of luck. Windows 10 will be the final arbiter. Get ready to make a dump run with gear you will never be able to use ever again."
    "The Windows 10 code is not so radical that it will create much of a backlash like Vista did. In fact, it looks like Windows 8.2 to me. So it should be smooth sailing. But because there's little that is radically different, that again tells me there is no hurry to upgrade. Wait a few months. Do it over a weekend when you have time on your hands. And whatever your strategy, prepare to buy new peripherals."
    =======================================

    That is darn good information! The fact that Windows 10 may well cause big problems with Drivers and Peripherals on your present system when you upgrade to Win 10 is enough to be a RED ALERT for everyone. Many thanks to PCMag for the heads-up and this report.

    I never upgrade until the OS has matured. Only testbeds ever got a new OS. Still I have an old Win7 that desperately needs a touch friendly OS.

    Also the driver issue? Do not look so hard at MS. Look at hardware manufacturers. Got a 2 gen old GFX card? Well they want to sell new ones and if you had a high end video card 3 - 5 years ago it is perfectly capable of running the OS and most games! They just want to sell more. Printer? Well they need to stay in business so no drivers for you!

    I had that problem with a Canon high end scanner that had drivers for Windows XP. This scanner was expensive and could do slides, film and magazine quality scans. When I got a new computer with Vista the drivers wouldn't work. I went to their website and they had the new drivers free to download. The only problem was that when the drivers were 99% downloaded the download would not complete. Canon shrugged their shoulders and said they didn't understand why. I tried numerous times and even went back a couple years later and tried again with Win 7. Same result. I've talked to others who had the same issues. I think Canon just wants us to buy new scanners. I won't buy another Canon product because of this. I kept an old laptop with Win XP just to use with the scanner. I don't use it to go online so I don't need updates. When I'm done scanning I just download the data to a memory card and transfer it to my other computers.

    Agree, in a work environment you'd set up a test group and all.

    And agree M$ is saddled with problems that stem from other software and hardware makers.
