    Exclamation ~~~ Computer Talk ~~~

    Greetings!

This is our new area for discussions on computers, browsers, software, email clients, general questions about computers, etc. Realizing that there are many who wish to inquire as well as share information about computers, I felt that we should have this area dedicated to those of us who wish to pursue such discussions.

So, without further ado, we may commence discussions. Don't be shy, post your questions, ideas, or comments/answers to commonly asked questions about computers and everyone is encouraged to share with answers or comments as this is Your area now. Thank you for your participation!
Let's see how much care and compassion Trump and Republicans show for their fellow Americans to truly help them out in their time of need.

Let's start the count to see if Trump comes through on the many things he promised to do for Americans. If he doesn't, along with a Republican Congress, then what's his and their excuse?

Hey TB. I think my computer might be gay but is afraid to come out of the closet. Is there an approach I can take to break the tension without causing a total meltdown?

Yes, there certainly is! It appears your computer might be emulating its owner but by simply making it face reality of who and what it is would be the best approach without the need for a total meltdown!

Too late. Its in the dumpster. I will heckle you no more. I had to just that once. Tell us about your IT background a little bit so we know what sort of guru we have at our disposal. I was 10 years old when I started drooling over computers @ Radio Shack in the early 70's. Honestly though I don't know crap about them anymore.

Is the closet air conditioned? Computers get hot, you know.

Well, we needed an icebreaker anyway now didn't we?

I am actually self-taught as far as computers in general go although I have also studied the various aspects of computers for some years. I have tried many software products and enjoy working with different programs to accomplish different things. I also have some good resources for free software consideration in case anyone's interested.

In addition, I like to discuss the latest goings-on in the computer world. Microsoft has been talking about going to Windows 9 but even Windows 10 is now being discussed so that is yet another good topic to initiate conversation with.

I continue to learn by doing and by researching the subject matter with regard to computers. I find them fascinating and have surfed around the web long enough to know that there is a tremendous audience who is now actively discussing computers so there are questions out there and if they're 'out there' inevitably there also has to be some right here at TPF. Let's start discussing!

I'll start...everyone knows that I'm a computer illiterate so I have no shame. My son is pushing me to get a reader like Kindle. I actually have trouble reading for too long so I get a lot of recorded books. I understand that some of the newer readers have the ability to play audiobooks. Any suggestions for one that would combine both abilities? Just to make sure my request isn't too easy...cheap would be nice too!
