Walmart CEO Calls On Arkansas Gov. To Veto Anti-Gay Bill
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewir...igious-freedom
==================================“Every day in our stores, we see firsthand the benefits diversity and inclusion have on our associates, customers and communities we serve. It all starts with our core basic belief of respect for the individual," Walmart CEO Doug McMillion said in a statement on Twitter. "Today’s passage of HB1228 threatens to undermine the spirit of inclusion present throughout the state of Arkansas and does not reflect the values we proudly uphold."
Thanks to TPM for this report. And when the chain store GIANT speaks, everyone listens, including governors!
Let's see how much care and compassion Trump and Republicans show for their fellow Americans to truly help them out in their time of need.
Let's start the count to see if Trump comes through on the many things he promised to do for Americans. If he doesn't, along with a Republican Congress, then what's his and their excuse?
LOL
I worked at Walmart. Walmart doesn't give half a $#@! about its employees or diversity. "Diversity and inclusion" is corporate-speak for illegal immigrants, half-retarded people, and felons that can't find employment elsewhere. Especially the overnight shift which I worked where labor laws were always ignored. Walmart and giant companies don't care about this law for any moral or civil reason. They're trying to win loyalty from demographics, just like Home Depot and so on.
Seriously, why should Walmart's opinion matter to the government? If they were supporting this nobody would want to hear their opinion. Corporations like Walmart should not be managing legislation or influencing the law. It's ironic that a leftist would suddenly support big business because of manufactured gay pride and opposition to manufactured homophobia.
"Of all men's miseries the bitterest is this: to know so much and to have control over nothing." -Herodotus
"Nobody seems to care. That’s what the owners count on. The fact that Americans will probably remain willfully ignorant of the big red, white and blue dick that’s being jammed up their assholes every day, because the owners of this country know the truth. It’s called the American Dream, 'cause you have to be asleep to believe it. " -George Carlin
There is a level of self-deception among progressives that is truly disturbing. I have no doubt that TrueBlue genuinely believes Walmart is doing the "right" thing and taking a stand on principle.
Furthermore, you make an excellent point. What do you think they'd say if a corporation wanted to influence the state in a way they didn't like which of course happens on a daily basis? I like this fourm and I like most of the members but I have to admit there is a serious lack of intellectual consistency and integrity.
Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

Indiana’s anti-gay law that wasn’t
Butthurt activists are just throwing fits again. They will stomp their feet and throw fits until they get what they want.
You’ve probably heard by now about Indiana’s horrible new anti-gay law.
That would be the one signed by Republican Gov. Mike Pence, allowing religious people to exempt themselves from any generally applicable law they feel like and permitting businesses to discriminate against gays.
No shoes, no shirt, no heterosexuality, no service.
Celebrities and all right-thinking people are boycotting the new “hate state” over its discriminatory return to the dark ages. There’s just one problem: the law doesn’t say any of these things.
