Rewind one hundred and thirty five years. On October 18, 1880, Vladimir Yevgenyevich Zhabotinsky was born in Odessa, in the Russian Empire. His family was made up of assimilated Russian Jews, and as such was not Jewish by religion, but was a secular Jew, or Jewish atheist. Later going by the name of Ze'ev Jabotinsky, he founded numerous Jewish organizations, including the Jewish Self-Defense Organization in Odessa and the Jewish Legion of the British Army. He also founded the Betar, Hatzohar, and Irgun. More on those later.
In 1923, Jabotinsky left the Zionist Organization and founded his own Zionist movement, called the Alliance of Revisionists-Zionists. The Revisionists-Zionists spawned a new philosophical branch of Zionism, Revisionist Zionism. Jabotinsky and his Revisionist disciples wanted to establish a Jewish state on both sides of the Jordan River and model it after the British Empire. Prior to World War II, Jabotinsky began plans for an armed Jewish revolt against the British in Palestine, no matter the cost, but the start of World War II in 1939 put a quick end to such plans. A year later, in 1940, Jabotinsky died.
Jabotinsky's legacy lived on in the form of the Jewish paramilitary group Irgun and its offshoot, Lehi. Revisionist Zionism is still dedicated to Jabotinsky's goal of a Jewish state that occupies both sides of the Jordan River, and the Revisionists initially opposed the 1947 agreement that established the state of Israel due to the British establishing Transjordan as its own state, thus denying the Revisionists a large chunk of territory that they believed belonged to the new Jewish state. All followers of Revisionist Zionism today consider it their mission to make all of the original British Mandate of Palestine territory of Israel.
Now, back to Irgun. The Irgun was a Zionist paramilitary organization that held to the ideas of Revisionist Zionism and was founded directly by Jabotinsky and his successor, future Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin. The Irgun carried out the bombing of the King David Hotel on July 22, 1946. Ninety one people were killed in the bombing, with another forty six injured. On April 9, 1948, Irgun carried out the Deir Yassin Massacre with the help of another Zionist paramilitary organization, Lehi. This time, the target wasn't British. It was the Palestinian Arab village of Deir Yassin. One hundred and seven of the Arab villagers were murdered and the village was claimed by the Zionists. Irgun members were also responsible for the assassination of Lord Moyne, British Deputy Resident Minister of State in 1944.
Irgun eventually integrated with the IDF (the Israeli military) after the creation of the state of Israel and a political party was started in its place, the Herut Party. The Herut Party later became the Likud Party, which currently holds control of the Israeli government. Likud is also the party of none other than Benjamin Netanyahu.
Wherever the Revisionist Zionists went, death and destruction followed them, all in the name of creating an Israeli Empire in the Middle East. It should be no surprise, given this history of terrorism and the ultimate endgame of the Revisionists and Likud, that Netanyahu has consistently found every possible excuse not to make peace and tries to sabotage peace efforts with rival factions in the Middle East.
If President Obama's connections to Saul Alinsky and Bill Ayers should be something to fear, then so should Netanyahu's undeniable connection to Revisionist Zionism.
