Activists Protesting Police Violence Shut Down Boston Highway, 29 Arrested

Activists protesting police violence against black people chained themselves to 1,200-pound barrels on Thursday and blocked a busy Boston highway during the morning rush.

At least 29 people were arrested, and Massachusetts State Police accused the protesters of endangering public safety by forcing ambulances to change routes.

The protesters blocked lanes of Interstate 93 heading into Boston at two points.

The aim was to show that white commuters and students "use the city and leave" while people of color "are targeted by police, exploited and displaced," Katie Seitz, one of the activists, said in a statement released by the organization Black Lives Matter Boston.

Boston firefighters were called to one protest and used chainsaws to cut through the barrels and free the protesters, New England Cable News reported.

The protests began about 7:30 a.m. ET and lasted two and a half hours.

Protesters Shut Down I-93 In Milton, Medford

    January 15, 2015 7:46 AM

MILTON (CBS) — Protesters chained to cement barrels and locking arms inside plastic tubing shut down parts of Interstate 93 in Milton and Medford during the Thursday morning rush hour.

Chanting “Black Lives Matter,” some activists created major traffic delays in the area by attaching themselves to 1,200-pound barrels........

State police said the protest had dangerous unintended consequences, citing an ambulance that had to be diverted. That ambulance was carrying someone with life-threatening injuries suffered in an Easton crash to Boston, but had to be redirected to Brockton because of the traffic.

“People’s rights are people’s rights, but you’re endangering people’s lives with this kind of conduct,” Alben said. “Hopefully the court system will hold them accountable.”

While they have the right to protest they DO NOT have the right to endanger other peoples lives in the process. Delaying an ambulance carrying someone with life-threatening injuries is a perfect example. Hopefully the family of the injured will sue each and every one of the protesters arrested till they can't see straight for delaying the ambulance and forcing it to be redirected. We can only hope for the kind of investigation Chris Christie in New Jersey faced over the bridge closure which allegedly redirected an ambulance as well. But, I doubt it we are talking the Libland of Massachewsettes.

They weren't complaining about the cops when the $#@! hit the fan in the Boston Marathon. People were thrilled to see someone there to help them from bleeding to death. The cops ran towards the trouble, not away from it.

Especially because many Preppy Progressives have huge trust funds for the bereaved families to tap into. Go for it!

Even after the Thuglovers' Fund gets a kickback from all the looting the "protesters" indulge in? I guess thieves are so stupidly self-destructive that they default on the payments they owe to their financial backers.
