    Trains maintenance.

Okay, in my country, as i am sure it is in many third world countries, there is a problem with the train lines as they are old. it would cost a lot of money to make a new 'set,' but the costs of constant repairs is more expensive! if you look at the price to upgrade, or to fix, like, every week, then you will have to agree that something big needs to be done instead of repairs.

First of all, there is cable theft. i suggest they up the amount of wattage to these lines to push the 'cutters' away. if they were to 'polarize the current,' they could make it a north or south pole on the wires to make it impossible to cut with cutters. this is the first and biggest problem. once off cost, a little maintenance, and rewards aplenty.

Then, they need to get sharper wheels. they could weld these wheels a little bit to make them sharper, and weld the tracks to make them sharper for many years to come too.

    Any other suggestions?

I don't see how going from a/c to d/c would make the cables any harder to cut, and a/c is used because the transmission distance for d/c is very short.

Not sure where you are going with the sharper wheels thing though.
