    CPT Kimberly Hampton

    From Facebook:

As we continue to celebrate Women's History Month, we pay tribute to Capt. Kimberly Hampton, who was the first female military pilot to be killed by hostile fire on Jan. 2, 2004 in Fallujah, Iraq. She was assigned to the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade. In her honor, the Kimberly Hampton Primary School was dedicated during a ceremony last year on Fort Bragg. Today, we honor her service and sacrifice.

This is the advantage of a woman flying into combat.

I mean, there is one, isn't there?

It gives women the honor of serving their country, just the same as we did.

She was flying an OH-58D- a scout helicopter supporting combat operations. $#@! happens.

A friend of mine was a CH-47 pilot. She was shot down in Afghanistan around the same time.

That it does. I took a check ride with a woman flight instructor. She was good at her job. Of course neither her nor I were flying helicopters into combat. Hats off to any pilot able to do that.
