What is the tree with the purple blossoms? They have always appealed to me.
My beliefs are a distillation of what I was taught as a child and what I observe as an adult.

Just guessing but it looks like a variety of magnolia.

I love it. You are so cool. Good reply.

You must truly enjoy it to stay there.

When Polwatch showed her photos, I took a look out front to see if the trees have any sign of spring. Not two days ago. Today some of the smaller trees have leaves growing. This 80 degree weather sure agrees with them.

I have seen them up close and they don't resemble magnolia blossoms. They look more like a petunia.

They call them tulip trees or Japanese magnolias. They bloom before any leaves appear. They are a variety of magnolia....very slow growing. My first hummingbird has appeared! Spring is officially here. I bought some new ferns to put into several large, cast iron pots my husband cleaned & repainted for me. Just generally played in the yard.....

While you are admiring your yard, i am here eating two baskets of fresh Watsonville Strawberries.

Is that a garden in your back yard.

Yum yum, strawberries, got to eat more. 6 organic baskets for $8 bucks. No tax.

That a flower bed in the center of my back yard. I picked a large bouquet of daffodils, iris & hyacinths today.

I'm possessed by the devil again...I cut a couple of bouquets for the house. The large white flowers are amaryllis with purple & yellow iris. The small vase has a couple of varieties of camellias & a couple of the Japanese magnolia blooms.
