@Peter1469, the problem isn't the chart, the problem is some people don't always answer it honestly.
You also have to consider that being on the libertarian side of the axis doesn't mean you are libertarian and aren't a statist. It just means you're more libertarian than the people on the other side of the libertarian-statist axis. So people like @Chloe, for example, that do advocate rather strong government responses to important issues, will still be in the libertarian side if the majority of their positions have a libertarian response.
It's also primarily social and foreign policy issues that earn a clear statist or libertarian perspective, so if you answer completely or mostly libertarian on social issues and foreign policy issues but only occasionally libertarian on other issues, you'll end up on the libertarian side of the spectrum.
"Those who produce should have, but we know that those who produce the most — that is, those who work hardest, and at the most difficult and most menial tasks, have the least."
- Eugene V. Debs (1855-1926), five-time Socialist Party candidate for U.S. President

authoritarian is at the top.
Chloe (sorry to pick on you) is towards authoritarian- and frankly most members who took the test are.
Rand Paul is low in the polls for a reason. Americans want the government to micro-manage their lives.
