I don't see any issue at all. The waitresses and cook staff all receive a cut of the tips brought in by restaurants. All management would have to do is equally divide the tips, and the workers would show no less than $15 per hour. The waitresses here make insane tips. (as much as $300 per night) My son has a friend who waits tables at an upscale chain outfit who has turned down $50,000.00 a year jobs. In a year or 2, he'll be in management and making way more than that.
Only in America.... could the rich people - who pay 86% of all income taxes - be accused of not paying their "fair share" by people who don't pay any income taxes at all.

The market picks winners and losers.
    Not in Seattle.
You want the government to subsidize workers so business can pay less.
I want NO SUCH FCKING THING. If I had my way, only TRULY NEEDED people would get even one red cent of welfare. Businesses don't pay less because workers are subsidized. That's just stupid beyond comprehension. Businesses pay workers ACCORDING TO WHAT THEY ARE FCKING WORTH.
What is it about WORTH are you having so much trouble comprehending?
You are a communist. You are the one who wants to pick winners and losers.
I'm not the commie pinko douchebag who just forced those businesses to raise the minimum wage. The Seattle government is the fcking communists.
If you and your big government subsidies would just get out of the way and stop trying to prop up failing businesses new ones with better plans would move in and everyone would be happy.
If you and your FASCISTS would just get out of the way, business would create more jobs. But because of you, the only NEW jobs being created are these.

Customers also purchase with their feet. If the restaurants have lost customers because of price increases, its likely due to inferior food.
So you're admitting you've NEVER actually been to a restaurant in your entire life, huh?
Since I actually WORKED as a cook in several restaurants, (paying my way through college) I can attest that the food is only ONE of the items offered. Other items include the service, the attitude, in some places the entertainment, and the absence of having to do the dishes at the end of the meal.
Restaurants are a competitive market. Raise prices just to accommodate some NAZI government wanting to jack up the minimum wage and you force restaurants to close.

Most people are willing to pay more for decent food. Its kinda a free market thing...
Most people aren't willing to shell out money because an asssshole government tries to buy votes from idiots by raising the minimum wage.

My problem with huge minimum wages is that the 14-17 y-o kids that would otherwise have a 4.00- 8.00 dollar an hour job are screwed by a $10.00 per hour min wage. They get nada. When I was 13, I was shucking onions at a grocery store for .50 cents a bushel, there's no way they'd have even paid me the $1.50 per hour minimum wage.

The wait staff shouldn't have to. Those tips are EARNED.

The employees in the restaurant are paid WHAT THEY ARE WORTH. It's none of the state's fcking business.

    Absolutely.

Good luck trying to convince a bunch of middle school liberal dropouts of that.

The entire city isn't being run by a bunch of minimum wage doofuses. I don't think the hospitals pay minimum wage to nurses and doctors.

    Read the article.

Some are closing. Some are FIRING staff. Some are cutting hours. Some are freezing hiring.

REALLY HELPED THE LITTLE GUY, DIDN'T IT?

Showing you clearly have not the slightest clue what "free market" means. Dictating what is a fair wage (not sure why you think you have a right to do this in the first place) is not a free market thing to do. That means you are letting your government regulate things, instead of letting people be free.
