@Common it's no surprise that Cigar perceived your OP as a slight against blacks. In his stupidity and insecurity, he stumbled on part of the problem. No one wants to talk about this sort of thing because by talking about it there seems to be an assumption that blame must be placed somewhere.

Know what rankles my ass? When idiots drag out their cell phones instead of intervening. That should be worth jail time or hard labor, but guess i sort of understand why it's not.

It has to be talked about and it has to stop being kept a secret, it will never fix itself.

Oh, I agree 100%. I'm just saying Cigar helped reveal the primary obstacle. No one wants to blame anyone. They prefer to blame things like institutions, society, or mysterious occult forces instead of dealing with real issues and real human beings.

That beatdown in the park was a setup and preplanned, the person with the cell vid started videoing long before they got too that girl and her brother.
That guy needs a trip to critical care, then have the guy that put him there visit him and tell him to get well soon so he can put him back in for an extended stay.

    No duty to intervene.

    Good Samaritan law

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Good_Samaritan_law

Good Samaritan laws offer legal protection to people who give reasonable assistance to those who are injured, ill, in peril, or otherwise incapacitated.

The protection is intended to reduce bystanders' hesitation to assist, for fear of being sued or prosecuted for unintentional injury or wrongful death.

An example of such a law in common-law areas of Canada: a good Samaritan doctrine is a legal principle that prevents a rescuer who has voluntarily helped a victim in distress from being successfully sued for wrongdoing.

Its purpose is to keep people from being reluctant to help a stranger in need for fear of legal repercussions should they make some mistake in treatment.

By contrast, a duty to rescue law requires people to offer assistance, and holds those who fail to do so liable.

Good Samaritan laws vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, as do their interactions with various other legal principles, such as consent, parental rights and the right to refuse treatment.

Most such laws do not apply to medical professionals' or careeremergency responders' on-the-job conduct, but some extend protection to professional rescuers when they are acting in a volunteer capacity.

The principles contained in good Samaritan laws more typically operate in countries in which the foundation of the legal system is English Common Law, such as Australia.

In many countries that use civil law as the foundation for their legal systems, the same legal effect is more typically achieved using a principle of duty to rescue.

Good Samaritan laws take their name from a parable found in the Bible, attributed to Jesus, commonly referred to as the Parable of the Good Samaritan which is contained in Luke 10:25-37.

It recounts the aid given by a traveler from the area known as Samaria to another traveler of a conflicting religious and ethnic background who had been beaten and robbed by bandits.

I get that, but have a problem with it at the same time. You can also stand on the edge of a lake and tape a little kid drowning. But if you do, you're an asshat who doesn't much deserve to live.
