Many thanks to Towleroad for this report. Suddenly it seems that lawmakers have gone stark raving mad. In their penchant to claim superiority and control over other citizens in the minority they have lowered themselves into a very destructive mode. These bills popping up across the U.S. by state legislatures attempting to denigrate the rights of LGBT Americans are deleterious to society as a whole. When we have to live with bigotry from the majority and have it rammed down our throats just because of their superiority complex we have lost our basic freedom to live a life as the Fourteenth Amendment, Section 1. prescribes:
"All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."
Yet these egregious, denigrating laws championed by prejudiced, bigoted states go strictly against the Fourteenth Amendment as the Federal Courts and Appellate Courts have ruled across the nation. But it appears that states simply want to enact harmful, unlawful legislation that will be very costly to the taxpayers who then have to be placed in the position of defending lawsuit after lawsuit should these prejudicial laws pass.
