Thread: Double amputee on springs to run in Olympics. Is that fair?

    Imagine those that compete against the spring man, they have to live with losing to a cyborg.

    It is worrisome. Does he tire less because he has less body weight? Does he run any faster because of the springy "legs" ?
    There are runners who carry more body weight than other runners, so I don't think body weight could be used as an issue. I think it could be argued on either side, but the end result would be someone digging up the stats on 87 lb Kenyan who ran in 1961 or something.

    His country selected him, and the Olympics (this time) went with it. The issue might very well become a precedence issue, for all other events and handicaps and/or advantages.

    My side of the fence, is I admire the individual for what he is achieving, which is the spirit of the olympics, so I'm good with it.

    When are they going to have a legless palmahorse athlete, or a legless athlete on the rings? No need for springs. I saw a legless college wrestler. He won a lot, no legs to grab. I wonder if he's in the Olypmics.

    Does a legless person qualify as "little"? And does the NAACP allow red, brown, yellow and "little" people in that organization? Is white a color?
