Why the US should stay out of the Middle East

Why the US should stay out of the Middle East:

Forbes discusses the pros of the US staying out of the Middle East. For one, the Sunnis and Shia are fighting one another. For another, neither side is going to become dominant. So let them bleed each other.

The Obama administration’s decision to negotiate with Tehran triggered near hysteria among U.S. politicians and pundits who advocate perpetual war in the Middle East. One complaint is that the talks were not broad enough. They did not address Iran’s malign intervention throughout the Middle East.

These critics denounced Tehran’s imperial ambitions. For instance, the ever-hawkish Foreign Policy Initiative insisted that “Iran’s drive to dominate the region has been years in the making.” The group warned of Sana’a becoming “the fourth Arab capital to fall under the sway of Tehran.” The Economist put it slightly differently, pointing to Iran’s “strong influence over Beirut, Damascus, Baghdad and Sana’a.”

However, if regional domination is a long-term priority, it is striking how little Tehran has accomplished. Most governments in the region dislike and oppose the Islamic regime. Nor is Iran much of a dominatrix, especially compared to America with its strong influence throughout the entire Persian Gulf and North Africa and in Iraq and Jordan; Saudi Arabia’s equally significant role in the Gulf and Egypt and among Syrian rebels; and Israel’s overwhelming regional military strength.

Another reason could be the abject failure of western intervention in the ME over the past several decades as evidenced by post 1979 pics of Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan where people dressed normally, women wore short skirts and became doctors and lawyers and such

Her dress doesn't look that short donttread. Not good either, these two probably looking for the child's older brother. The ME so stable post 1979. Secondly, you seem to be promoting a time where there was a Shah of Iran......the result of western involvement.

I mean.....you cannot make this sh!t up, sheer entertainment.

    Ignorance is as ignorance does.

Reckon I don't see many short skirts but, I do think I see some doctor and lawyer offices in the background of this picture of post 1979 Iran.

Let's look to Afghanistan. Concerning the Taliban, the U.S. didn't provide arms or anything but was 'sympathetic' to them because they were anti-Iran, anti-Shiite. And the U.S. at that time was looking for allies against Iran. In 1996, Bin Laden arrives from exile in Sudan, he funds and facilitates the Taliban in return for sanctuary.

Iraq has been defined in this forum endlessly. Saddam's reign of terror legendary. Post 1979.

We should sell weapons to both sides and enhance this Mutually Assured Destruction of Islam.
On the outside, trickling down on the Insiders

We won't live free until the Democrats, and their voters, live in fear.
