Eastern Europeans aren't as burdened by the suicidal liberal impulses prevalent among the political class in the west. Communist isolation did them some good in that respect. They didn't contract that virus.

Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

Update: Surge in immigration leaves sea rescue crews stretched thin.
Migration by sea increases as the weather improves. Expect more drownings.
Some 46,100 migrants have crossed the Mediterranean to reach Italy so far this year, with almost a third of them arriving last week alone, according to the United Nations refugee agency.
The total up to Sunday was equivalent to the same period in 2015, with about 14,000 arriving last week, UNHCR spokeswoman Carlotta Sami said in a telephone interview. More than 700 migrants perished in three shipwrecks last week.

More than 700 migrants drowned so far this year.
Video at link.More than 700 migrants died in the Mediterranean Sea last week as their boats foundered, aid and refugee agencies estimated Sunday, with most of them attempting to flee the Libyan coast for Italy in the deadliest period of migration to Europe this year.
The sinkings raise concerns that Europe is facing yet another summer with an overwhelming surge of new arrivals and intensify the debate over how to handle them. Although the migrant influx tends to slow during the winter and early spring, waters are growing warmer and calmer: Over the past week alone, 15,000 people arrived in Italy, many of them pulled to shore in dramatic emergency naval or coast guard rescue operations.
“This is the beginning of the peak season,” Federico Fossi, a spokesman for the United Nations’ refugee agency, said by phone from Rome. “It’s intense.”

Germany says 220,000 migrants have arrived so far this year. Far down from last year, but still way too high.
Some 222,000 asylum-seekers arrived in Germany in the first half of this year, the government said Friday — reflecting a much-reduced influx after the route through the Balkans was largely blocked and the European Union made a deal with Turkey to cut arrivals by sea.
Last year, nearly 1.1 million people were registered as asylum-seekers in Germany. Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere said he won’t forecast how many will arrive in 2016, given uncertainty about developments.
“The implementation of the agreement between the EU and Turkey is working so far, but I wouldn’t guarantee that this will also remain the case in the coming months,” he told reporters. “And developments on the Balkan route could worsen significantly.”
In all, 222,264 people were registered as asylum-seekers between January and June. The numbers declined sharply after 91,671 arrived in January. In June, the figure was 16,335, similar to the previous two months.

Alarmed Germans wonder about the security risks posed by asylum seekers
Four recent attacks in Germany leave Germans worried.
When hundreds of thousands of migrants poured into Europe from the war-torn Middle East and beyond, Germany stepped in with shelter and aid. Yet a new wave of violence is exposing the extent to which Western Europe’s most populous nation has also opened the door to risk.
The latest attack: A rejected Syrian asylum seeker who pledged allegiance to the Islamic State, and was known by authorities to be suicidal, detonated a backpack bomb rigged with metal projectiles in the Bavarian city of Ansbach late Sunday. After being turned away from a pop music fest for not having a ticket, the 27-year-old exploded the bomb near a wine bar, killing himself and wounding 15 bystanders — including three left in serious condition.
It marked the fourth bloody assault on German soil in a week, stoking the fears of Germans who have largely looked on as terrorism struck their neighbors. A disturbed Iranian German teenager carried out the most deadly of the attacks — the mall shooting Friday that left 10 dead including the assailant. Yet the three others involved asylum seekers from Syria and Afghanistan — two of them self-described supporters of the Islamic State.

Hundreds of Syrians in UK arrested over string of offences including rape and child abuse
This was a big reason Brexit won.
Our revelation comes after Northumbria Police were last month accused of a cover-up over an alleged attack by Syrians on two teenage girls in Newcastle.
One of the suspects was being followed by the BBC for a report on how his family had settled in the UK.
In Northumbria, the force admitted that last year – the latest available figures – they arrested a total of 16 Syrians.
This tally of arrests included two alleged sex offences, six claims of violence assaults and three of public disorder.
In London, 238 arrested included two for rape, three for death threats and seven for sex offences.
And Nottinghamshire cops nicked one for sexual activity with an underage girl.
