    Any collectors here?

I like to collect militaria. WWII and earlier.

Anyone collect anything? What's your coolest piece?

I would have to say my coolest is a set of Bardou field binoculars from the Union side during the Civil War.
I find your lack of faith...disturbing...

I collect militaria as well. My favorite period is early WW1. I love the uniforms and accoutrements particularly those of the French and German armies. I went through a Nazi phase in my 20s and have a some cool flags and propaganda. On the creepier side, I have a two documents from Buchenwald and one from Auschwitz.

That is awesome. While the Nazis were a blight on human kind I am fascinated by the history so I collect with no bias. I tend to focus on field gear. I have a few Nazi daggers, all the American blades from WWII and one or two from WWI. I even have a 1942 airplane crash axe that was stored in a B-52.

I would like like to get more Civil War and Indian-American war stuff.

Daggers were out of my price range at that time. Thankfully, I have electic tastes so it was the odder items was in the market for.

Civil War is just too expensive now. I think you're significantly older than me. There was a guy who did a show on muskets when I was in Gettysburg one year and he told me that back in the 1970s it was much easier to get started in the hobby if the Civil War was your thing.

I collect music; mostly in disc form. I have over 250,000 music cuts in my record library consisting of 33rpm, 45rpm, 78rpm, vertical transcriptions, CD's, computer files, Master tapes and analogue tapes.

My favorite music piece is a box collection from 1965 of Roy Orbinson's "disc jockey" 45rpm series of his music on the MGM Record label.

Think 3rd party for 2024 folks. Clean up America.

Once I tell you that we agree to disagree there will be no more discussion between us in the thread so please don't waste your time continuing to argue your points because I will not respond.

I always liked the sound of a crisp record.

Same here; there was a study done years ago on analogue vs. digital. Digital is pure, raw, sterilized audio compared to analogue which, in the tube era, produced a slight amount of distortion. Studies found that the human ear actually finds a small amount of distortion to be "pleasing", hence the so-called "warm and fuzzy" sound. I don't have a copy of the study, tho' i guess if I looked hard enough, I might be able to track it down if there was enough interest in it.

Tubes have been gaining increased popularity over the past 2 decades to the point where record producers are now using tube processors when they "master" new recordings. Funny how things go in cycles.

Les Paul, the man who designed the first electric guitar, was a very talented genius.
