I have an Uncle, County Sharif, who worked the night shift for 20 years. The area he patrolled had plenty of Lake Bars and every weekend he had to deal with drunks, drug addicts and bickers and people with knives ... and he never once had to Shoot his Gun. His 6'6" 230 lbs presence, deep voice and hands the size of catchers mitts was all he needed.

If he put his hands on you, he didn't need handcuffs to subdue you.

I hate stories like this. This kind of thing makes for distrust of anyone with a badge which is not fair.

I agree it's due to protocols, I just wish these officers would make better decisions and not be so quick with the trigger.

I don't buy the protocol or I'm just doing my job line of logic. It's complete nonsense and an excuse

He just lost his job, and he had a setback,” he said.

Way’s live-in girlfriend, Kaitlyn Christine Lyons, said she’d caught Justin drinking a bottle of vodka, which she took away from him to pour out. She said he was drunk, lying in their bed with a large knife, saying he would hurt himself with it. She called a non-emergency number in an attempt to get her boyfriend to a local St. Augustine, Florida, hospital for help—and told them she did not feel threatened.

Let me guess, the Police were in 'fear" for their Lives

I'm sure there's an excuse for killing this Man ... so let's hear it.

Once again, another big-government police state problem, directly caused by progressivism. If I was a leftist I would feel absolutely terrible about this. Fortunately, I'm a Conservative that advocates freedom and an inherent right to life. If my ideology had its way this man would be alive and kicking.

He didn't seem to be a threat. There was no need to shoot him.

There has to be a better way. Technically his wielding a knife bumps it up to deadly force, and "IF" he made an aggressive move towards anyone, he's dead. They really need to send in a person to talk him into putting the knife down. Sometimes these incidents are reported to 911 giving the impression the family is in fear. That changes the situation greatly. A suicidal despondent man with a knife with family in the house is a bad call.

I feel these situations could be handled better. I wasn't there, so I don't know all that transpired before the shooting.

They did it because they could and will continue to do it because they can.

The US citizen as an individual can stop it.

    Never vote for an incumbent.
