    How to Chop YouTube Video

Instructions how to use TubeChop to chop a youtube video...

The problem, you have a long video with a minute or so of interest you want to post. How do you cut it down to size?

1 Go to your video in YouTube.

For this I'll use a George Carlin video @ URL https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxsQ7jJJcEA.

Three and a half minutes, I only want a one minute segment!

2 Copy the YouTube video to TubeChop @ http://www.tubechop.com/

Click on [search video] button and start playing and set the start and end bars:

3 Click the [chop it] button to get the following:

Great, so now you can watch it but how do you post it? No, I tried copying the link, didn't work.

4 Click on the YouTube icon in the ChopTube video:

to watch the video on YouTube and then simply copy the URL to a post:

You can download Youtube videos too through similar sites then once you get them there are a multitude of video editors you can have at it with also.

I think I'm missing something here. The final video you posted isn't chopped.

I have been experimenting with tubechop for quite a while. The best i have been able to do is get the link (like this....)
    http://www.tubechop.com/watch/6216291

If I do as you suggest and click on the you tube logo and then click "share" the video isn't chopped.

"Embed" works on some forums but not most.

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://swf.tubechop.com/tubechop.swf?vurl=qxsQ7jJJcEA&start=93&end=153&cid =6216308"></param><embed src="http://swf.tubechop.com/tubechop.swf?vurl=qxsQ7jJJcEA&start=93&end=153&cid =6216308" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

It doesn't work here, at least not in posts. If someone knows a way to get the chopped video to work within a post I'd like to know.

You're right, the last one isn't chopped. I'll have to try again.

    Try now.

You may not need tubechop. Just add parameter t=N as in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxsQ7jJJcEA#t=91 as it will start there.

Damn, you're right, the forum ignores the t parameter.

It works in browser outside forum.

I think I read somewhere that YouTube likes to make it hard for other services to alter their videos. The "online services" that I have found want to sell you their software so its not really an online service at all. It looks like all we can do for now is buy an editor and then download video, edit it and then upload the edited videos to YouTube. Too bad but that's why I just use the Tubechop link like http://www.tubechop.com/watch/6216291

    If we could embed HTML^^^.

Note, Google dropped the t=N parameter for start=N and end= M. But those don't work here either.

Embedding directly to a post opens the door to hacking that could harm a forum, or so I have been told. Zetaboards doesn't allow it either.

I think YouTube has been getting hit hard with copyright violations threats to the point that they are paranoid about it. Add that to not wanting to do anything that helps their competitors and its no surprise they do what they do. Too bad for us.

Maybe after reading this thread people won't be afraid to click on Tubechop links.
