Absolutely. Unions were 100% needed to cured the inequities. They went way to far and pushed themselves out of the market place. What percentage of workers are union today?

With the demise of manufacturing, not a great percentage. I imagine that the majority are now associated with public sector employment.

Unions, at least in America, started out as private organizations that banded together voluntarily to fight the government-corporate complex. Now it seems like they are just another cog in the wheel, abusing political power for their own gain. They have virtually no conception of or concern for what private sector workers and small-business owners have to deal with; they just see them as a nameless, faceless, endless piggy-bank.

Unions today often protect substandard workers, maintain the average and hold back the exceptional.

Interesting promotion of the use of cannon fodder. That presupposes that your society places little value on human life and you let the enemy exhaust it's efforts on your disposable people, before they get to the ones with skill, that you value. Who are your "Irish" that you are willing to waste in exhausting the enemy?

Probably the middle class and poor's children, seeing how that is who makes up the majority of the front line soldiers....if not all.

You guys .... there is the obvious option that the poster intended to first shove in the worst trained Iraqis, probably Sunnis, then in goes the trained Iraqis and if that fails, our guys save the day.
