    Birth Control

There are those that want birth control to be illegal. I can see where they get their points, but I have to disagree with them, if for no other reason than the unintended consequences. Birth control has other medical uses than simply preventing birth. Let me give you an example. My ex-wife had polycystic ovaries. Without birth control, she could not have a cycle that was even in the realm of normalcy. I won't get into details, because it is still disturbing. However, I will mention her aunt, who also had polycystic ovaries. She was not on birth control, and had to be rushed to the hospital due to blood loss. Had she not gotten there in time, she would have died. Birth control doesn't only prevent pregnancy, it also saves lives.

You'll need to do more than just say so.
It's ok if you disagree with me. I can't force you to be right.

Birth control was illegal in Ireland not too long ago. I have heard some suggest this was a good idea here. The idea doesn't get a lot of attention because we are not a predominately Catholic nation. There are always some who object to any method of birth control. There are some who believe that methods such IUD's should be outlawed because they think they are equal to abortion. An IntraUterine Device is implanted in the uterus to prevent an egg from implanting. They are the only effective method of birth control available for women who can't take the pill.

That's the argument, and the anti-birth control crowd seems to not want to understand the health benefits birth control medicine offers to women with certain conditions. They listen to Rush for this information and assume it is only wanted so women can be $#@!s. But if you mention Viagra, the people making the rules (old men), say "but, that's different".

Well, first I would like to say that I haven't seen it on this forum, but was going off of conversations that I have heard. Those conversations weren't about others thinking that, but those people. However, it wasn't difficult to find examples, and I ignored the politically fueled ones (like "Republicans want to ban birth control!"), but tried to go with where people were saying that they should be illegal.

Here's a group trying to get rid of the pill.

Here's a discussion where multiple people are in support of banning birth control.

    Does that help?

Yes thanks, but I'd contend that the illegalize birth control crowd isn't a crowd and hasn"t the numbers to mount a sunday prayer meeting much less a viable lobby.

I'd consider it a crowd, but not a large one. I don't think they will actually be able to pass the laws they want against birth control, at least not in America. I just thought the topic could lead to some interesting discussion. I wasn't meaning to suggest that those people were going to get their way.

You should read her speach to the Congress comm. and then what Rush said. Your sources are woefully misinformed.

Whatever she said to congress gives Rush the right to call her a $#@!? If that's not what happened, then the floor is yours to correct me.
