As rare as this sort of thing is you are still taking your life in hands when you swim with animals that are known to have killed people in the past.

A bodyboarder was "cut in half" in a vicious shark attack in Australia on Sunday, and experts fear it could have been the work of a great white.

The 21-year-old was one of more than two dozen surfers enjoying the waves at the Boneyards, a popular surfing location near Bunker Bay along Australia's western coastline.

No one saw the attack, which took place around 1 p.m, but were alerted when the ocean suddenly turned red.

Come to think of it I guess that's the thing. The animal isn't being vicious or anything. You enter that environment and your own behavior makes you resemble something they eat. Hard to blame the shark...

Yep, I don't blame the shark at all. I wonder if there is coloring or some kind of odor they could put on the bottom of boards to deter this kind of thing. Wouldn't want to field test it tho

Me either. ;D They could probably create a less lethal shark net or something like that. The ones they use now kill a lot of animals over time. :-\
