It's a satirical commentary that highlights the more-than-hypocritical nature of Israel's complaints about Gaza. As usual, they started this whole conflict in the first place, then complained about its consequences and used them as an excuse for an extensive bombing campaign, to be followed up (we now know) by a full-scale ground invasion. This will be the second such invasion in under four years' time. They do these sorts of things all the time, on a remarkably routine basis. And they always claim to be the victims. Sell that to someone else.Peter wrote:
Sorry I don't get it...
I don't oppose Israel per se. I support a two-state solution to the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict. But I'm not stupid. While both sides of this conflict have faults, it's obvious which side has a whole lot more. Over the generations, Israel has been systematically eliminating all Palestinian territory with a steady expansion of settlements and outright conquests that we never challenge and rarely even question. What they're doing vis-a-vis the Palestinian people is, in other words, analogous to what we did vis-a-vis the Native American people in what is today the United States. No, I'm afraid I don't turn a blind eye to blatant colonialism or try to offer pathetic rationalizations for it. If there is to be a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict then Israel needs to stop being an aggressor. That's the main source of the problem, and indeed of the region's problems.Grassroots Conservative wrote:
I think it's supposed to be funny... that is... if you're a Liberal who hates Israel.
I know there's this huge cultural taboo on criticizing Israel in this country, but...seriously!!
