Biden continues to support defunding the police. Or as Trickum Joe likes to say reallocate resources to other uses. All this in the face of increasing violent crimes in every city trashing the reputation of the police. The democrat politicians have not say a word about it while witnessing the increasing lawlessness and killing on our streets, and the liberal progressive media is completely silent and won't even report.

While I understand that the planet is suffering and many believe that action is urgent, I think that replacing fossil fuel energy with clean energy should be a goal and an objective but should only be implemented fully once these clean sources are fully able to replace fossil fuel energy at the same efficiency rate and same affordable prices, which is very far from being the case now. I believe that research in clean energy is desirable, but forcing a premature replacement is not. I think that the goal of becoming fully energy independent is at this point in time more important than the goal of moving towards clean energy. Geopolitically speaking it is very important for the United States to be independent of fossil fuel sources from unfriendly countries, including for national security reasons, not to forget that we'd disentangle ourselves from some hot spots. So I favor the domestic tapping of oil and gas sources.

Yes, I think it is. I do believe that humans are heating up the planet. But I see energy independence as a higher priority, now. For now we have no choice other than to continue to use fossil fuels, but it would be good to move to clean energy whenever possible. Only when fully possible. Research would need to deliver better energy efficiency from clean sources for this to be possible. As of now clean energy is only able to handle a small fraction of our energy needs.

When that nuclear power plant melted down in Japan, I remember reading that to replace with solar power what Tokyo used in electricity from that nuclear power plant, one would need to cover the entire surface of the city with solar panels. Not just the top of the buildings, but the entire surface, as in a dome that wouldn't allow any sunlight to reach the city because the whole amount of sunlight would have to be harvested for this purpose, which is of course impossible and undesirable, so solar power delivers much smaller energy efficiency than a nuclear power plant.

So using clean energy when possible and available is fine, but it is not sufficient yet. Therefore we still must drill and frack and use nuclear power, because the world can't go on without sufficient energy.
