South Carolina police got quite the surprise Friday night when they found over 7,000 stolen guns in a warehouse outside of the town of Pageland.
Police went to serve Brent Nicholson, who had been arrested earlier in the week for drug trafficking, with a subpoena when they noticed stolen goods leading them to Nicholson’s arsenal according to local CBS affiliate WBTV.
Chesterfield County Sheriff Jay Brooks told WBTV that there were so many guns and ammunition that the police needed two tractor trailers to haul them all away.
“None of us have ever seen anything anywhere close to this,” Brooks said. Over 100 law enforcement officers participated in the raid, and police hope to begin sifting through the thousands of guns on Monday in an attempt to return them to their rightful owners.
Police also got warrants to search a liquor store and farm that Nicholson owns as well as his father’s home.
Nicholson’s lifetime neighbor Rusty Fender was shocked by what police discovered saying, “What was you thinking? Why was you collecting that many firearms? What was you planning on doing with them? I mean was you planning on starting a riot?”
