Man Arrested For Having Over 7,000 Stolen Guns

South Carolina police got quite the surprise Friday night when they found over 7,000 stolen guns in a warehouse outside of the town of Pageland.

Police went to serve Brent Nicholson, who had been arrested earlier in the week for drug trafficking, with a subpoena when they noticed stolen goods leading them to Nicholson’s arsenal according to local CBS affiliate WBTV.
Chesterfield County Sheriff Jay Brooks told WBTV that there were so many guns and ammunition that the police needed two tractor trailers to haul them all away.
“None of us have ever seen anything anywhere close to this,” Brooks said. Over 100 law enforcement officers participated in the raid, and police hope to begin sifting through the thousands of guns on Monday in an attempt to return them to their rightful owners.
Police also got warrants to search a liquor store and farm that Nicholson owns as well as his father’s home.
Nicholson’s lifetime neighbor Rusty Fender was shocked by what police discovered saying, “What was you thinking? Why was you collecting that many firearms? What was you planning on doing with them? I mean was you planning on starting a riot?”

Thats how legal guns get used in crime along with the legal owners committing crimes with them. Like the guy cops shot in fla today on a domestic call, he had killed one person and shot another and fired at police who subsequently made him dead.
OH WAIT FOR CIGAR AND EXOTIX IT WAS A DISPOSABLE WHITE GUY MURDERED BY POLICE.

Stolen weapons are a significant source but straw purchasing accounts for a larger share.

I dont know, we have no idea how many legit guns are stolen a year. Its in the many many thousands.

I would bet that legal gun owners use guns in crimes at a far higher rate than we know also. Every day in the paper here someone is shooting their mother their sister their father, thier wife their husband their GF, their neighbor, Its unreal. Theres many murders here without guns too.

Not to sound trite but we only know what we know: straw purchasing accounts for the largest share.

And I agree that stolen weapons are a significant factor. Not sure how a guy winds up with 7000 of them though unless they were stolen from a dealer or manufacturer instead of private owners.

The dude was trafficking opium and heroin. I wonder how many of those firearms were received "in trade".
