I agree with this completely, if there's anything wrong with it it's that in our own government those types of people would be more comparable to the Taliban, but yes, the general idea is correct.The only difference between al Qaida and the religious right whackadoodles here in the US is that society so far keeps the RWNJ's under check. There was nobody in lawless SE/SC Asia and Africa to keep Islamic fundies from going nuts.
If society here didn't keep the wingnuts in check, non-Christians would be getting their heads sawed off.
