Why are white student unions creating controversy on college campuses?

Controversy has erupted at UCF in Orlando, due to a Facebook page calling for a white student union in response to black groups protesting on the nation's campuses.

Some of the posts on the page included:

"How did you celebrate whiteness today?"

"Good morning my fellow University of Central Florida white students! It is a beautiful day to be white and proud!"

"We welcome students of European descent (and allies) to follow and contribute to the UCF White Student Union," a Nov. 21 posting said on the group. "European-American students on college campuses face unique and immediate challenges that are ignored or even actively denied in today's cultural climate."

"We unapologetically provide a safe space for white students to air their true feelings about the future of our nation, discuss and reflect on the lessons laid down for us by our great European writers, philosophers, and artists, and develop a positive program to restore the pioneering will and greatness of our unique and virtuous people," the Facebook group page said. "... At the same time, we do not wish to denigrate or harm any other group or ethnicity."

Other topics mentioned are a class offered at Arizona State University titled "The Problem of Whiteness" and a Colorado university professor's comment that "...whiteness is a disease."

So, in light of all that, why is it a big problem and controversy that white students are forming their own support groups?

Are not there Black Student Unions on most university campuses?

Will being white become illegal soon?

It's nice to see some university students embracing being white for a change. I support this.

To me it's just a simple matter of fairness.

If there can be black student unions and black clubs etc, then every other ethnic group should be able to have them as well.

Ten or even five years ago I would've thought otherwise. I would've felt like these white people were merely trying to cause offense and provoke outrage. But over the past three years or so, especially in light of all the riots and protests in which some pretty unsavory characters have been turned into heroes and martyrs, while the constant daily drumbeat of black crime continues unabated but is just ignored by the victim agenda crowd, I have begun to change my views on such things.

Blacks appear to be getting to the point where they seem to feel they can coerce and berate their way into taking over as the new privileged class overnight just by complaining louder and louder and acting offended over everything whites do.

If there can be black student unions and black clubs etc, then every other ethnic group should be able to have them as well.
