Just because a good number of people don't know the historical significance behind the confederacy, does not mean they are automatically racist. Some decent folks were led to believe that what the politicans were telling them was their true intentions. Fear is a major motivator, and you don't have to look any further than what happened after 9/11. Nobody likes it when people are pre-judged, especially based off of a stereotype. Let their actions and words be what defines them.

Sadly, I really don't think so. I think segments of the black population have been raised to think this way. To you and I it's so absurd she can't possibly believe it has anything whatsoever to do with race but I think this is genuine. I think it's true that many young blacks are being raised to find racism everywhere.
