Mind you, this isn't a defense of racism. I think racism is immoral but the idea that racism is somehow ignorant just doesn't make sense.
Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

It doesn't matter how much you wish to "parse" your question, but ignorance is in believing that all humans are not equal and deserving of dignity. Ignorance is believing that one human is superior to another simply because of a pigment in their skin.
Trust me, when you see a boat full of young white racists pulling up to your dock telling your black guests they are not welcome on the lake, the stench of that ignorance is hard to mistake.

You're just repeating your claim. We're talking about beliefs and value judgments by your own admission. How exactly are racists ignorant? Of what exactly are they ignorant of? That all human beings are equal? That belief seems even less rational than racism. It's demonstrably untrue whereas a racist worldview is impossible to prove wrong.

It's not a case "of what", but rather "what of". They are ignorant of the fact that the pigment in ones skin is not a determinant of one's intelligence or worth, any more than it should determine how a human is treated.
It's really very obvious unless it's your agenda to find an excuse for such ignorance. But then the question would turn to a reason why one would seek to excuse ignorance?
