Republican Bob Turner holds a 6-point lead over Democrat rival David Weprin, 50-44, in the race to replace Anthony Weiner in New York’s 9th congressional district, as the campaign heads into its final days ahead of the special election on Tuesday, September 13.

Turner has surged 12 points in the past several weeks to overtake his rival, amidst a flurry of endorsements from Democrats, including former New York City mayor Ed Koch. President Barack Obama’s poor treatment of Israel and his failing economic policies are key factors in the race.....snip~

This will lead to major problems with the Dems. To Lose the 9th. If this happens I would look to watch the Dems work their re-districting thing with Weiner's District. Looks Like the Brews aren't happy with Obama and the Dems. Wonder how much financial support that costs him?

I just looked up the demographics of the 9th and I think that there really is a chance for the GOP candidate.

Yeah D.....isnt that up around your way. Those stats also show the GOP guy is outside the margin of 3%. It is looking very good. What a blow this will be to the Dems. Especially in NY.

Myself I would like to see the GOP take New York, Chicago and L.A. Lets conservatives take these Major economy makers for the Country and watch the turn around on the financial end. One thing is for sure spening money for Casino's before they are built wouldn't be happening.

Yeah, Brooklyn is about an hour but only because of the traffic. The district is 71% white non-Hispanic. It has a large Jewish population (plus Irish and Italian) but I'm not sure if Jewish disaffection with BO will carry over to disaffection with the Democrats in general. Plus Weiner is a Jew. This will be interesting. While I think the GOP has a chance I will still be surprised if they steal this seat.

Well Obama did stop giving money to the Palestinians.....and he is trying to prevent them from making their Pr play in the UN. But if he doesnt. I think the Brews will turn from him. Might not stop the change over there. But at least it takes money out of his coffers.

From what I understand there is already a great deal of dissatisfaction among Jews with the way BO has handled the issue. I think you're right though that the impact (if any) will be felt in terms of money not votes.

When is the politically active Jewish contingent ever satisfied though? Like the Cuban community in Florida with the anti-Castro mania...too much is never enough. I agree we should support Israel and spurn Cuba to a degree but rational though and the United States' own interests should far outweigh anything else.

Oh, I agree. I'm not saying I side with American Jews but I would be somewhat pleased if it turns out that they are abandoning BO and hopefully the Democratic Party as well.
