World population growth in 6 minutes

World population growth in 6 minutes

Go down to the interactive graphic that will show the growth of the world population from 1 AD to toady.

One of the first things that jumps out at you from this video is that China and India have always been kind of a big deal. The huge populations of South and East Asia, especially around the Yellow and Ganges rivers, stretches back to ancient times. You can also see early civilizations along the Mediterranean Sea and the Nile River, and in Japan, Indonesia, the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa.By contrast, the Americas are much more sparsely populated. You can see the Aztec and the Inca populations flourish around 1400, as well as some other ancient populations, like the Mayans and the Moche. But the population of the Americas doesn't really start to boom until after the Industrial Revolution.
If you watch the video closely, you can see some populations wane as well -- including Europe's loss of millions of people from the Black Death, and the fall of the Incan Empire with European colonization.

UN says world population will reach 9.8 billion in 2050
Thursday 22nd June, 2017 - A new UN report forecasts that the current world population of 7.6 billion will reach 9.8 billion in 2050 and 11.2 billion in 2100.
The report by the Department of Economic and Social Affairs' Population Division, released on Wednesday, said roughly 83 million people are being added to the world's population every year.

The UN says the global population will be nearly 10 billion by 2050

According to new UN projections, India's population is expected to surpass that of China by about 2024. India now has 1.3 billion people and China 1.4 billion. The UN said that among the 10 largest countries, Nigeria is growing the fastest.

Nigeria is currently the world's seventh most populous nation, but it's projected to surpass the United States and become the third largest country in the world shortly before 2050.

Very interesting. What happens when the boomers die out and we aren't replenishing?

The population replacement rate is low in the US, but not as low as Europe. It means those populations will drop. Their economies will drop as the work force shrinks. Their ability to pay welfare benefits will drop.

I don't think it'll be all doom and gloom; humans are a pretty resilient race and additionally the economy will adjust itself according to market conditions. While It's highly unlikely I'll be around by then, I'm confident all will be well here on the good planet Earth as long as we don't have a nuclear war or other similar catastrophe.

Think 3rd party for 2024 folks. Clean up America.

Once I tell you that we agree to disagree there will be no more discussion between us in the thread so please don't waste your time continuing to argue your points because I will not respond.
