If Bernie Sanders does break through against Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primaries and get the nomination, he won't be president next year.

Bernie Sanders is not going to win the presidential election. Either he won't be the nominee, or he won't win in November, because if he gets the nomination Michael Bloomberg will enter the race as an independent with the specific intention of making sure Sanders doesn't get elected. Bloomberg will take more votes from the Democrat than the Republican in November, and either he will win or the Republican will win.

He may run anyway, even if Clinton gets the Dem nomination, but he's definitely running if Sanders is the nominee.

"Progressives" need to start thinking about these eventualities when they go to vote.
I recommend that you simply vote for Trump directly.

I'll wait for a recommendation that makes sense if you don't mind.

So let's see, don't vote on principle, vote for party and accept the lesser of evils. You've got to just love democratic government--thank God I caught a typo, I'd initially typed demonic government.

Some people prefer the indirect approach. However you prefer to help Trump win is acceptable to me.

I'd really like to see the "don't throw you're vote away" crowd answer the simple question above

Not throwing your vote away, voting for lesser of evils, is an establishment vote generally, it maintains the status quo, it results in more of the same.
