Now cartels killin' priests in Mexico...

Kidnapped Mexican Catholic priest found shot dead
Mon, 26 Sep 2016 - A Catholic priest kidnapped in Mexico has been found shot dead, the third cleric to be murdered in the country in a week.
The body of Jose Alfredo Lopez Guillen was found late on Saturday near the town of Puruandiro in Michoacan state, prosecutors said. He is the third priest to be found murdered in Mexico in the past week. Father Lopez Guillen had been robbed before being abducted from his home last Monday in Janamuato, Michoacan state, Church officials said.

People gather at Our Lady of Asuncion Church in Paso Blanco, Veracruz state, Mexico, for funeral Mass in memory of Catholic priest murdered in Veracruz.

The Michoacan prosecutor's office said a post-mortem examination showed the priest had been killed several days before his body was found. On the same day that he disappeared, the bodies of two other priests who had vanished the day before were found by a roadside in Veracruz, on Mexico's east coast. They had also been shot dead. It is not believed their deaths are linked to that of Father Lopez Guillen.

His death brings the number of priests murdered in Mexico since 2012 to 15, according to figures from the Catholic Multimedia Center, which monitors violence against clerics. Veracruz and Michoacan have been plagued by years of violence from drug cartels and other organised crime.

A leader of Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman's Sinaloa Cartel arrested... Most wanted target of 'El Chapo's' Sinaloa Cartel captured Nov. 30, 2016 -- The head of Mexico's Criminal Investigation Agency said police arrested a leader of Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman's Sinaloa Cartel for his alleged involvement in drug trafficking and murder.
Omar Hamid García said a man identified only as Vicente Rufino N. was arrested along with his bodyguard, identified as Fermín N., in the city of Acapulco in Guerrero state on Saturday. Hamid García said police seized a rifle, two pistols, cocaine and methamphetamine.
Vicente Rufino N. was declared one of the Mexican government's 122 priority targets to battle drug cartels in Mexico. About half of those targets belonged to the Sinaloa Cartel. Mexican officials have killed or captured the majority of the suspects, with less than two dozen remaining. Hamid García said Vicente Rufino N. and Fermín N. are accused of killing police, at least one politician, and of trafficking drugs and weapons. Hamid García announced the arrests during a press conference on Tuesday. http://www.upi.com/Top_News/World-Ne...?spt=sec&or=tn

Do you think drug legalization is the cure-all for the crime issue in America and the rest of the world?

Grisly scene as charred remains of 3 detectives found in Guerrero...

3 detectives killed, burned in southern Mexico
Dec 9,`16 -- The charred remains of three federal detectives have been found in the bed of a burning pickup truck in the southern Mexico resort of Zihuatanejo.
A fourth person's remains were found nearby Friday along with a hand-lettered sign containing an apparent reference to a drug gang. The security spokesman for the southern state of Guerrero said the detectives' bodies had been covered with logs and set afire. Their weapons were also burned.

Their vehicle was found on the outskirts of Zihuatanejo in an area not frequented by tourists. Spokesman Roberto Alvarez said the agents were reported missing on Thursday.

The area has been the scene of increasing violence in recent months. Guerrero state has seen an uptick in killings, with gangs often sending messages to rivals by dumping bodies.

A look at notable dates in Mexico's decade-old drug war

Feb. 22, 2014: Drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman of the Sinaloa cartel is arrested. He escapes from prison the following year, and is recaptured in early 2016.

June 30, 2014: Mexican soldiers kill 22 suspects at a warehouse in Tlatlaya, Mexico State. News media later present evidence that most were executed after being captured.

Sept. 26, 2014: In the city of Iguala, Guerrero state, 43 students disappear after corrupt police detain and turn them over to a drug gang.

December 2016: Homicide rates, which had fallen, return to levels near those of 2012.

No. I do think it is the single greatest action we could take towards that end and saving lives though. Name a single action that could release more people from prison , cause less murders, and waste less young lives, and at the same time save more taxpayer dollars. ?
You get where the gangs and cartels get most of their money from , right? Or how most prostitutes are pushed into the business? Or the reason an alcoholic smoker can often support his habits on a job and live into his 60's with many chances to get sober and why the opposite is true for a heroin addict, right?
