I disagree. He should of just shot the guy. Instead he tried to be a police guy and in that regard he had no training and got shot. If he would have just shot the guy this would have been a happy ending.

Term of art. His actions stirred up a situation that was at least mostly over for that moment.

And when did he become my buddy? Just because I wouldn't stand around watching someone get shot doesn't make me this guy's buddy... Because you would just stand around what does that make you? His enemy?

Neither you nor I stood around and watched anyone get shot. Neither are we his friends or enemies. He did something foolish. Once the guy was in his car leaving he should have let it go and helped the victim. He was not a cop, he didn't have the training or reflexes to deal with the situation.
