A good Samaritan armed with a gun was shot dead in front of his wife as he tried to make a citizen’s arrest of a man who had just shot his girlfriend in the parking lot of a Texas pharmacy, police said.
The shooter, identified as 22-year-old Ricci Bradden, was able to flee the scene Monday of the Arlington Walgreen’s but later turned himself in to police, the department said in a statement.
Police said Bradden on Monday morning went to the Walgreen’s, where his wife or girlfriend was an employee, and then shot her in the leg during an argument in the parking lot.

I dont know what citizens arrest involved in this case. The only successful citizens arrest which really just translates into holding someone till the police arrive is when theres a whole group on a person.

Im thinking this guy would have been better off shooting the guy that shot his girlfriend. Hed be alive at least.

You're probably right, except that the other guy was leaving and you can't shoot someone unless there is imminent danger.

What most folks don't realize is that a gun isn't a magic wand that makes people do what you tell them to.

There are people, given their psychological dispositions, who should not be allowed to own guns. That doesn't mean that they won't still kill people, but it will be more difficult. RIP to the good samaritan who gave up his life to try to help bring justice to another. Too many deaths of good people.

You are correct and I totally missed that he was leave leaving. The problem is trying a citizens arrest on a Known armed person that just shot someone else, is dumb and we know the result of that. Either shoot him or let him go and call 911 let the Police nail him

I'm not sure about the statutes that govern shooting to protect another who is in imminent peril. But in Texas, he could have shot the guy because he was threatening another's life.
He should have shot the guy dead. I don't think any jury would have found him guilty of anything.
He did violate the first rule, never pull your gun if you're not ready or willing to use it.
