I agree... but it's enjoyable to glance at but none of my friends post DRAMA.. If they did I would remove them.. My FB newsfeed is very bland.. and everything my friends post is bland.. Pics of the grandkids.. where they went for dinner... news about our HS reunion... stuff like that..
For many people, talking about oneself is therapeutic. If you write about yourself and put it out there, it means that somebody is reading your words and paying attention to you. Real life doesn't offer that opportunity to everyone.
Then, too, being on Facebook - Hell, for that matter, being a poster on this board - is as close as most people will ever get to being "famous". Most celebrities have Facebook pages these days; those obsessed with celebs believe that they are establishing some kind of connection with the truly famous by posting to the same website.
I had a Facebook page, briefly, years ago, just for the purpose of re-connecting with a couple of old buddies from school and the Navy. We exchanged a few emails, wished one another well, and then just went on with our lives. I eventually shut the thing down because I was getting "friend" requests from people I'd never heard of, people asking me to water their imaginary gardens or some damned thing, and it was just a silly waste of time.
