Presently we are ripping ourselves to pieces over aspects of this matter but unlike most other places we do it openly and with tremendous candour .There are disadvantages , unfortunately , as there also exists a group who lie about such matters and "sincerely" claim knowledge of happenings which are actually fabrication , albeit often not from deliberate intent .
It's a form of hysteria and reminds you of the Witchcraft allegations both recent and stemming back to the 17 th and 18 th centuries across the developed world --- then essentially Europe .
Incest also occurs frequently across all parts of society. It is the hidden and taboo subject with unwritten understandings and agreements to keep the matter as hidden as it is reasonably possible .In fact on an international basis it is highly inflammatory as whole countries , and certainly classes and tribes , are built on incest for perfectly reasonable considerations from their perspective . India is a classic example .
The idea that paedophiles and those involved in incest come from the well off classes is as far from the truth as it is possible to be . It is there in every demographic group --- in principle just like homosexuality .
The estimated incidence of these " diseases" amongst sports people makes most people shake their heads in disbelief . But as a group they are no better or worse than others .
One day someone will produce results of the incidence of Gays among Social Workers .If they dare .
The resulting arguments will be volcanic on both sides .
Imagine then the same types of statistic for those who who are paedophiles and those involved in incestuous relationships .
NB .Over here , first cousins are defined as forbidden relationship subjects . Assume the same is true in the US . Would it be wrong to surmise that Incest is encouraged in New Zealand ?
You flourish "transparency" only when all attempts at secrecy have failed.

Even then, strenuous efforts are made to ensure that "transparency" reveals as little as possible - and changes even less.

Wonderful. Yet another home goal in the "beautiful game".

The City watchdog, the Financial Services Authority, is investigating claims by a whistleblower that Britain's 300bn wholesale gas market has been "regularly" manipulated by some of the big power companies, exploiting weaknesses that echo the recent Libor scandal.
For the Yanks here, that getting on for three quarters of a trillion dollars.

Why does soccer (misnamed "football") exist?

Tim Leiweke, president and CEO of AEG [Anschutz Entertainment Group, who owns LA Galaxy] said: "Seldom does an athlete redefine a sport and David [not only took our franchise to another level but he took our sport to another level. It has been an honour and privilege to be a part of his world, and more importantly, to have him be a part of ours."
This was a reference to David Beckham, recently described by the New Zealand prime minister - no less - as "thick as batshit". No red carpets for him.

There have been squeaks of protest from most bats I know; including some who have taken on human form. As bats tend to do.

Why do the Poms exalt this excruciating game and pledge undying allegiance to small groups of otherwise unemployable men in funny shirts who wander round paddocks wondering what to do? And who once in a blue moon delegate the poking of the ball (which most of them seem strenuously to avoid) into a net.

It's harder to understand than quantum physics.

We have thousands of kids here who "play" this charade. But most of them are the refugee off-spring of parents who are earnest in their desire to protect them from anything that resembles a sport, and might thus lead to minor abrasions.

    We call it Wendyball.

    Only yards for you, huh?

Which is a fanciful way of rating sports.

We have one of the most brutal sports in existence. Called rugby.

It's measured metrically but eschews the battle-dress Americans apparently find the need to adorn themselves with in order to ritually bang into one another.

Or in the case of Mister Dee , after you have spent a life time researching prose , you get to the point where you cant see the wood for the trees about anything ..

Easy to opine, difficult to demonstrate.

Do not demand "funny". It daunts them.

And merely provokes a rustling of leaves in the forest.
